Leaving a gift in your Will
Overcoming disadvantage through giving a lasting legacy
Naturally, when you start thinking about writing your Will, your loved ones will always be first on your mind. However, once you have made provision for your family and friends, you may well find that you are able to leave a gift in your Will to Quest for Learning.
We are at the forefront of giving children growing up in disadvantage a real chance in life. Through our literacy and numeracy work, we give these children the belief and the tools to enable them to succeed.
Do you believe in the power of education to give a child a chance in life? Do you share our vision of all children growing up to be literate and numerate? By leaving a gift in you Will, you will help us make this dream come true.
Our mission is to inspire young minds by providing quality teaching and training that supports children in mastering skills in literacy and/or numeracy. Through leaving a gift in your Will to Quest for Learning, you will empower these pupils to go on to lead happy, successful and fulfilled lives.
Leaving a gift in your Will is not complicated
You may be daunted by making or changing a Will, but it is really easy and quick to do. It’s best to use a solicitor or professional will-writer to give you peace of mind. You do not have to make decisions all at once. For example, a simple Will could say that you would like your family to have 95% of your estate and Quest for Learning 5%.
It may be that you have already written a Will but you would like to add a gift to Quest for Learning. If so, you can ask your solicitor to make any changes with a codicil form, which is a legal appendix to your Will.
To make it easy for you, we have a Codicil–- which you can complete and send to your solicitor. There might not even be a cost to do this. But it will be important for your solicitor to read the codicil to check it does not conflict with your current Will. Click here to download the codicil.
Also, if your estate is valued at more than the amount set by the Government, Inheritance Tax will be due on the amount which is above that threshold, unless the beneficiary is your spouse or civil partner. However, if you leave a gift in your Will to a charity, its value will not be included when valuing your estate for Inheritance Tax purposes, ensuring that more of your money can go where you would like.
