End of KS2 Writing Assessment and Moderation: Securing the expected standard
The session runs from 1pm – 4pm.
This is the first of a series of three sessions aiming to support Year 5 and Year 6 teachers to develop their understanding and application of the statutory Teacher Assessment Framework for Writing through termly opportunities to meet and moderate with colleagues.
Teachers may attend all three sessions or select individual sessions from the series.
We are aiming to hold this session IN PERSON, in north Oxfordshire. In the event of Covid restrictions or impacts, we may move it online, but will always give as much as notice as possible.
Pupils’ progress to end of Key Stage assessments spans across the Key Stage and it is therefore essential that all teachers are aware of expectations and involved in the journey towards these. To this end, this series of sessions is suitable for both Year 5 and Year 5 teachers, either as colleagues from the same school or attending independently. English subject leaders are also welcome to attend in order for them to gain an overview of progress towards end of KS2 writing expectations.
Session 1 – Securing the Expected Standard
In this session, teachers will secure their understanding of the ‘Pupil can’ statements relating to the expected standard and explore teaching approaches to develop their pupils’ writing towards these. Participants will then moderate their pupils’ writing to develop and secure their understanding of the expected standard in context and to consider next steps for development.
- Unpick the criteria of the end of KS2 Teacher Assessment Framework for Writing
- Explore creative teaching approaches to develop and secure pupils’ writing skills towards the ‘Pupil can’ statements
- Participate in moderation of pupils’ writing in order to discuss, refine and secure judgements and next steps
Please be aware that one ticket admits one delegate only.
