January 19, 2023 10:00 am £50 Online

10am – 12noon

Join this workshop to develop the subject knowledge to underpin your teaching of phonics for reading and writing.

For phonics teaching to be highly effective, practitioners must have secure subject knowledge and a clear understanding of phonological progression. This interactive online workshop will cover the relevant subject knowledge and progression in order to support practitioners’ teaching of phonics and support for pupils to apply knowledge in their reading and writing. Included in the workshop will be approaches to teach and practise concepts, as well as ideas for the application of phonics across the curriculum.

You will receive in advance all the handouts and resources for you to fully participate and, during the sessions, participation tools will be used such as practical activities, breakout groups for discussion and opportunities for questions throughout.

This session is suitable for EYFS/KS1 teachers, KS2 teachers delivering phonics, TAs supporting the teaching of phonics.

Participants will:

  • Become familiar with the subject knowledge and terminology associated with teaching phonics
  • Understand the progression in phonics teaching and children’s acquisition of the relevant knowledge and skills
  • Explore practical approaches for discrete phonics teaching and its application to reading and writing

Please be aware that due to the interactive nature of the sessions, one ticket admits one delegate only.
