Supporting Reading in KS1: a workshop for Teaching Assistants

September 29, 2022 1:00 pm £50 Online

The course runs from 1pm – 3pm.

Join this interactive online workshop to develop your subject knowledge of the KS1 writing curriculum and gain new ideas to support pupils with their written work.

In many cases, Teaching Assistants are involved in supporting groups and individual pupils with their written work.

This course is designed specifically for TAs to provide an understanding of the KS1 writing curriculum and its associated subject knowledge, as well as an opportunity to explore strategies and approaches for scaffolding pupils’ writing to develop independence and confidence.

Suitable for TAs working in KS1 or KS2. Please note: Teaching Assistants working with KS2 pupils who need further support with KS1 writing objectives may find it helpful to join this session to gain practical ideas for how to scaffold writing as the foundation for KS2 expectations.

Participants will:

  • understand the national curriculum requirements for writing in KS1 and the associated subject knowledge and terminology
  • explore strategies, activities and resources for working with pupils when writing
  • consider approaches for scaffolding writing for pupils who find difficulty with written work

Joining instructions and course material will be sent out beforehand.

Due to the interactive nature of the session, please be aware that a ticket admits one delegate only.
